Lexington, KY -Under the direction of Rees Jones, ASGCA and Bryce Swanson, ASGCA, Landscapes Unlimited recently completed a full bunker renovation at Marriott's Griffin Gate GC in Lexington, KY. With a goal of providing guests with consistent playing conditions, 80 bunkers were replaced, reduced, or reshaped. Total square footage of bunkers is now 80,000 (down from 133,000). All bunkers were constructed using the BBB method and have already been tested with several heavy rain events. The reduction of man hours needed after rain events allows the maintenance team to focus on routine tasks that otherwise had to be delayed. Members and guests at this premier Marriott facility are enjoying the upgrades to the course originally opened in 1981.
