Long Island, NY – Maxwell Turf and Supply based out of Long Island, New York has been extremely busy working to install the Better Billy Bunker method across the Northeast. Work continues at Winged Foot Golf Club, the home of the 2020 US Open, under the watchful eye of ASGCA member Gil Hanse. The restoration of the original A.W. Tillinghast design will feature Better Billy Bunkers throughout both the east and west courses. In addition, Maxwell Turf has also just completed a renovation using Better Billy Bunkers at Glen Oaks Club. The Joseph Finger design provides a challenging layout that has been improved using the Better Billy Bunker method to ensure playable bunkers no matter the conditions.
Stepping out from their home base on Long Island and working a few hours south in the Washington, DC area, Maxwell Turf teamed with McDonald and Sons Golf Construction to completed a full renovation of the bunkers at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Maryland. The two contractors worked hand in hand to bring architect Rees Jones’s design changes to life. Better Billy Bunkers were installed on the entirety of bunkers.
