Old Tabby Links Renovations include BBB

Okatie, S.C.- MacCurrach Golf Construction, Inc. based in Jacksonville, FL, is continuing work on a complete renovation of Old Tabby Links at Spring Island located near Beaufort, SC. Design work is being done by Palmer Golf and the Better Billy Bunker method is being installed during this renovation. Lead designer Brandon Johnson is heading up the project for Palmer Golf.

MacCurrach Golf provides a high quality of work to the golf course construction industry and has a history of being a leader in the industry. MacCurrach Golf was honored as the winner of the Golf Course Industry “Builder Excellence Award” for the best renovation in 2009. They become one of only a dozen licensed Better Billy Bunker certified installers throughout the world. Each contractor undergoes extensive field and classroom training to become a certified installer.

Better Billy Bunker is a revolutionary golf course bunker construction method. The method uses a 1.5” to 2” base of local gravel along the base of the bunker core followed by an application of their ST410 Polymer applied to the local rock. Once the product has cured the bunker is ready for sand to be installed. This method reduces washouts, but more importantly, prevents contamination of expensive bunker sand.

Bradley S. Klein of Golfweek documents the renovation performed on Spring Island's Old Tabby Links lead by artitect Brandon Johnson of Arnold Palmer Design Co. and contractor MacCurrach Golf.
