Highland Golf and Country Club Gears up for Centennial

June 11, 2015

Indianapolis, IN - First routed by Willie Park, Jr., Highland Golf and Country Club became one of Bill Diddel's first ventures into the world of golf course architecture.  In preparation for their centennial celebration, Highland is making tremendous improvements to this gem of a course.  The first phase of architect Ron Kern's master plan was completed in 2014 by Duninck Golf and addressed all existing bunkers.  Along with significant reshaping, the Better Billy Bunker Method was installed.  Director of Agronomy Ryan Baldwin  explained that the changes have not only met, but exceeded the expectation of Highland's members.   "Our scope was a complete removal of all existing bunkers and their contours, then construct to match the age and architecture of the original intent...while using today's technological advancements like the BBB system. When we completed the project in late June of 2014, not a single old bunker or its outside contours remained. We have a phase 2 which will consist of adding an additional 16-20 bunkers; mainly as fairway and approach locations. Ron Kern, ASGCA did a phenomenal job of architecting our needs and working with Duininck Golf and BBB to provide a seamless project and great results for my Members." During Phase Two, 18-20 additional bunkers will be added in locations consistent with the original architectural design.  We're excited for HGCC as they approach this significant milestone!
